The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 14 x 9 x 1 in (36 x 23 x 3 cm) and weighs about 0.9 kg.
