Teak carries its own oils, which is why it takes heat, damp and years of use better than anything else we work with. Boards are picked for grain and strength, then planed, cut and fitted by hand. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 18 x 20 x 38 in (46 x 51 x 97 cm) and weighs about 15.2 kg.
