Finished in natural teak, with the grain left where you can see it. Teak carries its own oils, which is why it takes heat, damp and years of use better than anything else we work with. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 12 x 12 x 24 in (30 x 30 x 61 cm) and weighs about 5.8 kg.
