Mango Wood Hand-Carved Armoire/Wardrobe

A mango wood hand-carved armoire/wardrobe in solid mango wood, cut, joined and finished by hand. Armoire crafted from solid mango wood with visible woodgrain, distressed vintage finish, carved medallion door designs, four interior shelves, one exterior drawer. Finished in distressed vintage finish, with the grain left where you can see it. Mango wood is close-grained and warm in colour, a plantation hardwood that takes a finish evenly. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 48 x 22 x 78 in (122 x 56 x 198 cm) and weighs about 83.7 kg.
