A mango wood decorative vase 11 in solid mango wood, cut, joined and finished by hand. Idella Wood Table Vase. Finished in honey, with the grain left where you can see it. Mango wood is close-grained and warm in colour, a plantation hardwood that takes a finish evenly. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. We finish by hand, wiping back between coats, so the surface still feels like wood. It measures 10 x 10 x 14 in (25 x 25 x 36 cm) and weighs about 2.1 kg.
