Mango Wood Floor Lamp

A mango wood floor lamp in solid mango wood, made the way furniture was made before it was flat-packed. Tapered column floor lamp crafted from mango wood with a cotton linen drum shade, light brown and beige finish, elegant minimalist silhouette. Finished in light brown and beige, with the grain left where you can see it. Mango wood is close-grained and warm in colour, a plantation hardwood that takes a finish evenly. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. We finish by hand, wiping back between coats, so the surface still feels like wood. It measures 20 x 20 x 12.5 in (51 x 51 x 32 cm) and weighs about 7.6 kg.
